Jockstraps

Jockstraps were originally used in sports and even had room for a cup to protect the boys down below. Now days guys still use them for sports but the style has also relaunched into what some people call ‘designer jockstraps’ where guys all over the world wear them for their normal day to day wear.

I asked the owner of the UNB Store to give his 2 cents on jocks, and this is some of what he had to say: “I like jocks, and many guys do, because of the design. It allows freedom of movement, breathability, and looks sexy. The jock is designed to offer you the ability to move and bend without it binding or bunching. It’s a simple design that has served the test of time. Next, the design allows you to stay cool when you are active. The open back is perfect for activities where you will get hot and sweat. Lastly, the open back is sexy because it puts your assets on display. It accents both the pouch and the assets. It’s a simple design that has become a staple of men’s underwear drawers.”

I personally didn’t start wearing jockstraps until recently. It’s not a style that you see in every department store like briefs, boxer briefs, and boxers. It wasn’t until I tried a pair that I realized the added support jockstraps can provide. I just thought that a jockstrap would feel just like briefs, except without material in the back. I ended up discovering that the wide elastic straps in the back that connect to the bottom of the pouch really adds extra support. Also, have you ever had to pick out a wedge that your underwear created? Well, you won’t have to do that with jockstraps, because there isn’t any material to get stuck!

Underwear companies have taken the jockstrap and have created tons of different versions. You’ve got jocks that have the straps starting at the front pouch or from the side waistband. You’ve got backless briefs, jockthongs, and everything in between. If you haven’t tried a jockstrap before, I recommend checking out an online store (like unbstore.com) and find a pair or 2 you’d like to try. It can be fun to change it up and wear something exciting and different then maybe what you’re used to.
